Vital Programs

Support for the Next Stage Campaign will bolster Roundabout’s signature education, community engagement, and new work development programs, which create the artists and audiences of tomorrow.

Scott Ellis Musical Production Fund

Roundabout is the only not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to consistently producing full-scale classic musicals, on Broadway and off. However, production costs of a single musical can cost triple that of a Broadway play. The Scott Ellis Musical Productions Fund, part of the Board Designated Fund provides essential underwriting to fully realize the artistic vision of a musical.

Scott Ellis has made Roundabout a home for artistically vital musical theatre since he directed Roundabout’s first ever musical, the iconic 1993 Broadway revival of She Loves Me. He became Deputy Artistic Director in 1998, and he guided Roundabout as Interim Artistic Director after Todd Haimes passed away in 2023. To honor his extraordinary leadership, we’ve named the Musical Production Fund for him, and the fund will ensure that musicals stay central to Roundabout’s mission into the future.

New Play Initiative

The New Play Initiative fosters a creative home for emerging, mid-career, and seasoned writers and directors, allowing tremendous artistic freedom and providing robust support through commissions, artistic stipends, developmental readings and workshops, residencies, and writing retreats.

Education at Roundabout

Since 1996, Roundabout has filled a gap where our public education programs fall short. By connecting Teaching Artists to classrooms and developing customized partnerships with schools, we reach students in ways traditional models cannot. We help students collaborate, create, and think deeply about the world around them, all to promote wellbeing, engagement, and academic success across all subjects. We hope you’ll join us in our mission to maintain or expand Roundabout’s vital programs. Make a gift online today to invest in the next generation of artists and audience members.
